Broken But Beautiful 3 Composer Vishal Mishra: ‘I Felt That There Was Something Left Of Teri Hogaiyaan In Season 2’-EXCLUSIVE
The AltBalaji successful franchise Broken But Beautiful came back with its third season a few days ago, featuring a new cast with Bigg Boss 13 winner Siddharth Shukla and Sonia Rathee in the lead. The franchise is known for its music as much for its story, and till now three songs have already been released and received well from this season. Today, the makers released the fourth song from the season, Teri Hogaiyaan 2, which is a recreated version of the same song from Season 2, sung and composed by Vishal Mishra.

However, apart from their names and hook line, Vishal promises there are hardly any similarities between the two versions. “For me, these are two separate projects altogether, although with the same name and the same basic emotions. In season 2, when we were making Teri Hogaiyaan, it was about the small conflicts between two people in love. It was not about being broken but about how one felt when the other wasn’t there, and how their presence changed it. This time it is a mixture of both, it is actually broken but beautiful. Teri Hogaiyaan 2 talks about a person who has left someone without even thinking about the other person and how they would feel about it. At some point it hits them and they come back to apologize to the other person for leaving without considering their feelings and how they wish to be with them. So, it’s about experiencing love being broken and then coming back. It was a very beautiful tangent for me to compose on,” Vishal insists.

Recreation is not new to our industry, but creating something new from his own song, that too which released just over a year ago, was it weird for Vishal in any way? “It was more difficult than weird as once you make something and it gets so much love, you wonder what else you can do with that song,” he shares.
However, Vishal had always wanted this chance. “I thought there were emotions that I could have said and I felt that there was something left of that song in season 2. I always used to wish that I would get an opportunity to make another verse for it. Sometime later, I forgot about it, but then Neeraj came to me and said let’s make Teri Hogaiyaan again,” he smiles.

Vishal insists that if one listens to the new version, they won’t realise that it’s based on the previous one. “Except for the hook line, everything is different, including the sound and music and it’s all about being vulnerable. I feel songs also grow like trees. When it came one and a half years back, it was a small tree and now it had to mature and this is the matured version of the song,” he says.

Ask Vishal if the final product came out exactly as the way he and the makers envisioned it to be and he agrees. “I am blessed that my producers and directors have that kind of bond with me that we are completely transparent with each other. It is called sangeet because ye sang mein hota hai. It was a collaborative effort and we all knew what we wanted to do with the song. The makers wanted to shoot it like Broadway in a big manner, yet maintain the innocence of the song since love and hurt is a very delicate emotion. We envisaged the song and I tried to give it a very innocent canvas. When you listen to it, it feels like there is Broadway going on and yet the emotion has been retained. The song is getting so much love and the audience is connecting to it like a new song and that is the biggest thing for me as an artist,” he smiles.
Vishal informs that he made Teri Hogaiyaan 2 in just two-and-a-half hours and it was inspired by some real and reel life situations. “Notes are a consequence of a fight that happens between emotions and this song was a combination of all the emotions. When you make a song, you give something away from your heart to the audience,” he points out.

Teri Hogaiyaan 2 is filmed on Sonia performing it on stage and Vishal is all praise for her. “It is a theatrical finale and Sonia has done it so beautifully. Both Siddharth and Sonia have done such amazing work throughout the show,” he insists.
Now, Vishal had a version of this same song picturised on Vikrant Massey and Harleen Sethi in season 2 and this time it was filmed on Siddharth and Sonia. So, which couple did he like his song better on? “You can’t expect me to choose between apples and oranges. The old version was shot magnificently as per its requirements and so was this version. Fans are loving the video and performance of this version. I love Vikrant and I feel he is one of the finest talents in the country but this video is also very beautiful and I love it,” he signs off.
