Broken But Beautiful 3 Composer Akhil Sachdeva On Mere Liye: ‘Throughout The Recording I Was Just Thinking About My Sister And Crying’-EXCLUSIVE
Recently, the makers of the upcoming show Broken But Beautiful 3, featuring Siddharth Shukla and Sonia Rathee, released a song from the show titled Mere Liye. Sung, written and composed by Akhil Sachdeva, the song is featured on Siddharth and depicts his heartbreak in the show. But the song is way more special for Akhil, as he composed the song the same night, he lost his sister to Covid last year.

Talking about it, Akhil shares, “The first night that I was writing Mere Liye, I lost my sister to Covid. It was a heart-breaking moment for the whole family but maybe as an artist I had that capability to channel my emotions and pain through that song. It is a tribute to my sister, wherever she is. I am sure she is blessing me and that song from above,” he smiles.

People romanticize an artists’ pain as they channel it through their art, but it can take a toll on the artist going through that process. Ask Akhil how overwhelming it got for him to make this song after going through such a tragedy and he responds, “Honestly, I don’t think too much about these things but yes, I was going through a lot and since it was Covid time I couldn’t even meet my parents.”

Akhil goes on to inform that even though they were all in Delhi, his parents were living with his elder brother. “So, we couldn’t even hug and cry together,” he says emotionally, adding that although it was a difficult moment for him, he is someone who keeps his emotions aside and expresses them through his music. “I personally feel it is my best singing in Mere Liye and I remember recording it in just 25-30 minutes. Throughout that recording I was just thinking about my sister and crying. I had tears throughout and I feel it came across that strong and that’s why people are relating to it,” he asserts.

Not just him, but even the industry could relate to his work in the song. “As soon as the song got released, I got a call from most of my friends from the industry like Amaal Malik and Vishal Dadlani, who said that it was my finest work ever and they could feel my pain. I just felt blessed that it connected with them. It is the best thing when you create something from the heart and it touches people and changes their emotions. For me, Mere Liye is not just a song, it is way way more special,” Akhil signs off.
