Tom Hanks Birthday: When Forrest Gump Actor Shared His Definition Of The Indian Cinema, 'For Long It Was Big B Running Around And Beating Up Bad Guys'
Hollywood actor Tom Hanks turns a year older today. The Forrest Gump actor was recently in the news as he along with his wife Rita Wilson contracted Coronavirus. In March, Rita and Tom Hanks had taken to social media to thank their fans for pouring prayers and wishes for their speedy recovery. Talking about the birthday boy, Tom Hanks in his earlier interview had defined how Indian Cinema looks for him. The Hollywood star had said that for long they thought Bollywood was all about Big B running around and beating up bad guys. However, it changed later on.

Tom Hanks had once said, "For a lot of years, Indian movies for us were Big B running around in his glasses and beating up bad guys or midgets and stuff like that. We didn't quite understand what was going on. If everyone starts speaking the common language of cinema, it will start representing itself."

He had further stated that with time, they began to recognise India's talent. He added, "Like the cinema from Japan and China have impacted the entire cinematic narrative of the West like A Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon by Ang Lee... Those guys are working in American films now. The fact is that we have not just been able to see films outside of Bollywood for whatever reason, or outside Satyajit Ray's films. But it is only a matter of time because people in the United States see everything...All you have to do is be available."

In his successful career, Hanks has worked with Irrfan Khan in Inferno. For the unversed, Tom Hanks' Forrest Gump is being officially adapted into a Hindi movie titled Lal Singh Chaddha starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan.
