Selena Gomez On Her Toxic Relationship With Ex Justin Bieber, Says He ‘Emotionally Abused’ Her
It has been a long time since Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez separated, the two, in fact, have even moved on in their respective lives. However, they still make it to the headlines for some of the other reasons. The most recent reason though is quite shocking and candid, as Selena Gomez, in an interview with NPR's Lulu Garcia-Navarro, revealed being a victim to emotional abuse while she was dating the Baby singer and how two mutually ended things for a better life ahead.

The singer admitted to her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber being her inspiration behind the song Lose You to Love Me. Elaborating further on why the song meant a lot to her, Selena said, "I'm very proud of it. It has a different meaning to me now from when I wrote it. I felt I didn't get a respectful closure, and I had accepted that, but I know I needed some way to just say a few things that I wish I had said. It's not a hateful song; it's a song that is saying—I had something beautiful and I would never deny that it wasn't that,” she added, “It was very difficult and I'm happy it's over. And I felt like this was a great way to just say, you know, it's done, and I understand that, and I respect that, and now here I am stepping into a whole other chapter." (ALSO READ - After Justin Bieber’s Forever Birds Tattoo Ex-Flame Selena Gomez Gets ‘Rare’ Inked On Her Neck)

Garcia-Navarro was quick to make Selena confess whether she is referring to Justin Bieber, to which, she responded, saying, “You had to get the name in, I get it.” Further Garcia-Navarro quizzed Gomez if getting over Justin and their past relationship was among one of the toughest phases of her life, to which, Selena said no and that she had found strength in it. She then opened up to suffering from emotional abuse during that time. "It's dangerous to stay in a victim mentality. And I'm not being disrespectful, I do feel I was a victim to certain abuse,” Garcia-Navarro cut the singer by asking, "You mean emotional abuse?”

Selena admitted to the same by saying a yes. “As much as I definitely don't want to spend the rest of my life talking about this, I am really proud that I can say I feel the strongest I've ever felt and I've found a way to just walk through it with as much grace as possible,” she concluded.

Back in the year 2018, Justin Bieber had confessed to abusing drugs and his previous relationships, when he was seeing the Rare singer.
