I Can See Clearly Now singer Johnny Nash no more, breathed his last at 80 in Houston
One more legend bids a final goodbye to the world. Singer-songwriter, actor and producer Johnny Nash breathed his last at the age 80, reported The Associated Press. The news was confirmed to the publication by the singer’s son Johnny Nash Jr. The veteran singer who rose to fame for his classic tune I Can See Clearly Now, released in 1971 was unwell for sometime. His son confirmed that his father’s health deteriorated and later he died due to natural causes.
He breathed his last at his residence in Houston which is also his birthplace. His classic tune, I Can See Clearly Now ranked on number 1 position on Billboard Hot 100. His iconic number later became most popular with singers such as Donny Osmond, Lee Towers, Ray Charles crooning his tune in their own version. Also this popular number was penned by the late singer when he was recuperating from cataract surgery; back then he spoke about overcoming the low phase in his life through this tune.
During one of his interactions with Cameron Crowe for Zoo World Magazine in 1973, Johnny had mentioned how music is universal and meant for ears and not for age. He was quoted saying, “I feel that music is universal. Music is for the ears and not the age. There are some people who say that they hate music. I’ve run into a few, but I’m not sure I believe them.”
Married thrice, he is survived by his wife Carli Nash, daughter Monica Nash and son Nash Jr. We pray for his soul to rest in peace. ALSO READ: Legendary Guitarist-Musician Eddie Van Halen No More, Farhan Akhtar Pays Tribute
