Robbie Coltrane, a veteran Scottish actor who became a global name for playing wizard Harry Potter's guardian Hagrid in the cinematic adaptation of JK Rowlings' popular, has died at the age of 72.

As per the latest reports, Robbie passed away at a hospital in Larbert, Scotland. However, the actor’s family chose not to disclose the cause of death. But, if we are to go by the recent reports, he was keeping unwell for some time.
Coltrane has attained fame across the globe for his portrayal of Rubeus Hagrid the Giant in the Harry Potter films, starting with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in 2001. He is also known to be the winner of the BAFTA Award.
It was sad for all the Harry Potter fans across the world, as everyone is shattered by the news of Robbie’s demise.
For the unversed, Hagrid the Giant is one of the most loved characters from the cinematic universe and many took to their social media handles and expressed their condolences over the same.
Recently, Coltrane reprised his role as Hagrid in the fantasy short film Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. He also wrote an autobiography titled - Coltrane in a Cadillac. He also starred in the TV series of the same name in 1993 and he drove across America from Los Angeles to New York City in a classic 1951 Cadillac car.
