Elliot Page Files For Divorce From Wife Emma Portner Months After Coming Out As Transgender
Hollywood star Elliot Page, who changed his name from Ellen Page after coming out as trans, is parting her ways from his wife Emma Portner. Reportedly, the couple who got married in January 2018 filed for divorce on Tuesday in Manhattan. News of their split comes nearly two months after Page announced he is transgender in an emotional post on Instagram. The pair even confirmed their split in a statement to TODAY, saying that after a lot of consideration and thought, they came on this decision. The statement also mentioned that they have the utmost respect for each other and will remain close friends.
 
"After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce following our separation last summer. We have the utmost respect for each other and remain close friends," the statement read. After Elliot came out as trans, Emma even shared the Juno actor's statement on her Instagram and wrote, "I am so proud of @elliotpage. Trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world. I also ask for patience & privacy but that you join me in the fervent support of trans life every single day. Elliot’s existence is a gift in and of itself. Shine on sweet E. Love you so much."
 
Elliot Page who is better known for roles in Juno, X Men, Inception and many more announced that he is a trans in December 2020. Changing her name from Ellen to Elliot Page, he took to his Instagram account to share a long note saying that he is a trans and that he is happy right now.


An excerpt of the note read, “I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot. I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey. I can't begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self. I've been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community.
