Ellen Degeneres Faces Backlash For Comparing Quarantine To Jail: ‘Quarantining In Your Mansion In Designer Sweats Is No Prison’
Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show is perhaps, one of the most popular ones out there, featuring the biggest Hollywood stars. With shooting brought to a halt due to the Coronavirus pandemic, The Ellen DeGeneres Show is back, but virtually. She kickstarted the chat show with John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, and her latest episode sees dancer Stephen Boss as the celebrity guest. It was on that episode that Ellen made a remark comparing her quarantine to jail and this did not go down well with Netizens.

During the episode, Ellen cracked a joke about being in quarantine, and said, “This is like being in jail, is what it is. It's mostly because I've been wearing the same clothes for ten days and everyone in here is gay.” She faced the wrath of many Netizens who were irked by her comparing her quarantine period to a jail, pointing out how being in her mansion is not comparable to a prison. Some even criticized her for making the comment while many people sit in jails, without basic protection like soap.

While one user wrote, “Ellen DeGeneres Comparing Isolation in Her Mansion to “Jail” Guess her designer clothes are her jumpsuit huh,” another Twitter user commented, “Can we all just agree jokes about jail/prison are just…bad? Putting humans in cages is not funny. Things that happen there are not funny. And anything you’re going through right now in your apartment (or your fucking mansion, Ellen) is not comparable.” Check out the video and some more reactions to her statement here:

It was last week that Ellen DeGeneres had announced the comeback of her show virtually taped at home and would feature celebs such as Chrissy Teigen, Jennifer Lopez, and others.
