Did OG Plans For The Dark Knight’s Sequel Include Leonardo DiCaprio Playing Supervillain Riddler?
Reports on the Internet suggest that Titanic star Leonardo DiCaprio could have been cast as the supervillain Riddler aka Edward Nygma in the sequel of The Dark Knight
Hollywood superstar Leonardo DiCaprio has starred in some hit films such as Titanic, The Great Gatsby, Catch Me If You Can and many others. While he has given some remarkable performances as the lead actor in films, it was the first time in 2012 film Django Unchained that we saw him play the villain. This proved to be one of his most remarkable roles and is etched in our brains. While he usually plays the good guy in films, did you know he was being considered to play the role of Riddler in the sequel of The Dark Knight?
Going by the reports on the Internet, Leonardo DiCaprio could have been cast as the supervillain Riddler aka Edward Nygma in the sequel of The Dark Knight. According to a report in the Empire Magazine, before The Dark Knight premiere, screenwriter David S Goyer said that the Warner Bros had planned for the sequel of the film. These plans were taking place on the red carpet of The Dark Knight, and the topic of discussion was which actor they would like to see play the role of the villain. They discussed that the villain would be Riddler and they wanted Leonardo DiCaprio to play the part.
Given how well Leonardo DiCaprio played the part of the villain in Django Unchained, there’s no doubt he would have made for a great Riddler. While The Dark Knight Rises was also a great watch, with some great fighting scenes, we would have loved to see Leonardo and Christian Bale in the same film!
