Yes, you heard that right! Britney Spears’ Toxic is connected to veteran actor Kamal Haasan. Wondering how? Britney’s song Toxic’s hook music is inspired by Kamal Haasan’s movie Ek Duuje Ke Liye. According to a report in Insider, Manasi Prasad, a classical Carnatic vocalist revealed that the song Toxic is actually based on an Indian classical rāga, or melody. She said, “This song is actually based on an Indian classical rāga, or melody. So you'll find a lot of other Indian songs which are in this rāga.”
The classical Carnatic vocalist then added, “It's used to convey feelings of very intense emotions. I think one of the reasons why, you know, Bollywood songs work so well is the range or the pitch of the songs tends to be really high, and it brings an intensity and a brightness." Prasad shared that the melody is used to convey feelings of very intense emotions, and mentioned that she thinks it is due to this reason that Bollywood songs work so well as the melody brings an intensity and a brightness.
Meanwhile, talking about Kamal Haasan’s film Ek Duuje Ke Liye, the movie was directed by K. Balachander and released in the year 1981. Apart from that, as the song Toxic made Britney Spears the icon she is today, the hook music of the track was written and produced by Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg.
