Brad Pitt bagged a BAFTA 2020 award for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. During his acceptance speech, the actor joked about several things including the royal family which made the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton laugh awkwardly
The 73rd British Academy Film Awards aka BAFTA 2020 awards was hosted by Graham Norton at the Royal Albert Hall. BAFTA is a charity which promotes the best work in film, games and television and supports the growth of creative female talent in the UK and internationally. For the award night, we saw some A-listers rolling down the red carpet with a lot of oomph. Amongst many, the stars of the evening were the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton who owned the red carpet, well literally as they are the president of BAFTA since February 2010. The royal couple enjoyed a glamorous evening at the BAFTAs, celebrating the very best in British and international cinema.
However, during the award show, Brad Pitt who bagged Best Supporting Actor In Male award for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood didn’t make it to the event. But his award was received by Bombshell actress Margot Robbie who read Pitt’s acceptance speech in front of the audience. He made a joke about Prince Harry leaving the UK in his BAFTA acceptance speech which made the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton laugh awkwardly. According to Insider, reading Pitt's speech on his behalf, Robbie joked: "He is going to name this [award] Harry because he is really excited about bringing it back to the States with him." The camera then panned to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who laughed awkwardly along with the audience. This joke is a reference to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to leave their home in the UK and step down from the royal family.
For the evening, the Duchess was re-wearing her bespoke Alexander McQueen gown, worn in Malaysia during the 2012 Diamond Jubilee Royal Tour of South East Asia. The white gown with golden design on it, Kate Middleton exudes royalty while Prince William looked dapper as always.
Stars like Charlize Theron who was nominated in the leading actress category for Megyn Kelly in Bombshell, Scarlett Johansson, who was nominated for both leading and supporting actress for her performances in Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit respectively, The Irishman star Al Pacino who is nominated for Best Supporting Actor. Joker star Joaquin Phoenix, who is nominated for the Best Leading Actor in Male, Saoirse Ronan, Margot Robbie and Emilia Clarke, to name a few have graced the event, putting their best fashion foot forward.
