The American Music Awards 2020 took place recently at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. According to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, the award ceremony was attended by a limited audience of invited guests. Taylor Swift bagged the artist of the year at American Music Awards 2020, and won two other trophies at the ceremony which was held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Apart from her, The Weeknd, BTS and others won top honors.

This was the sixth time that Taylor Swift was voted Artist of the Year at the AMAs, and while she was absent from the ceremony, Taylor thanked her fans through a video message that aired during the award show. She said that the reason she did not attend the award ceremony was because she is re-recording all of her old music in the studio where they originally recorded it, “So it's been amazing. And I can't wait for you to hear it,” said Taylor. Taylor Swift left behind Bieber, Post Malone and Roddy Ricch to bag the artist of the year trophy. She also bagged favourite music video award and favourite pop/rock female artist.

The Weeknd also bagged three awards this year, as he won favourite soul/R&B male artist, favourite soul/R&B album for After Hours and favourite soul/R&B song for Heartless. Singer-rapper Doja Cat won new artist of the year and favourite female artist soul /R&B.
