The Pirates of the Caribbean actor Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have been making headlines for many reasons lately. For the uninitiated, a few days ago, it was reported that actor Johnny Depp requested a retrial back in December for his libel case against The Sun over an article calling him a wife-beater. As per recent reports, the court has now denied his appeal. Yes, you read that right! The Pirates of the Caribbean actor had previously denied that he abused his ex-wife.

The justices, James Dingemans and Nicholas Underhill said that earlier court hearing was full and fair and the trial's judge's conclusions have not been shown even arguably to be vitiated by any error of approach or mistake of law.

Reacting to Depp losing a bid to appeal, Amber Heard's reps released a statement to Yahoo saying, "We are pleased but by no means surprised by the Court's denial of Johnny Depp's application of appeal. The evidence presented in the UK case was overwhelming and undeniable. To reiterate, the original verdict was that Mr. Depp committed domestic violence against Amber Heard on no fewer than 12 occasions and she was left in fear of her life." The statement had further called Johnny's claims of new evidence was a press strategy.

On the work front, after losing the UK trial against the publication, Johnny Depp lost his role in the Fantastic Beasts Franchise. The actor was set to play Gellert Grindelwald. However, despite all of that, he was reportedly paid USD 10 million. For the uninitiated, Johnny and Amber met on the sets of their comedy film 'The Rum Diary' and later married in LA in 2015.
