93rd Academy Awards: Alia Bhatt, Hrithik Roshan Invited To Join The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences
Hrithik Roshan and Alia Bhatt have been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and they will have voting rights at the 93rd Academy Awards if they accept the invitation
Bollywood actors Alia Bhatt and Hrithik Roshan are among those who have been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). The Academy announced on Tuesday, that it had invited 819 new members, and the list also includes designer Neeta Lulla, documentary filmmakers Nishtha Jain and Amit Madheshiya, casting director Nandini Shrikent, visual effects supervisors Vishal Anand and Sandeep Kamal. According to a report in PTI, those who accept the invitation will have voting rights at the 93rd Academy Awards, which is scheduled to be held on April 25, 2021.
The list was released on Tuesday on the Oscars website and in a statement, the Academy said that the 2020 class includes 45 percent women, 36 percent underrepresented ethnic/racial communities, and 49 percent international from 68 countries have been invited to join as members. The statement further said that those who accept the invitations would be the only additions to the Academy’s membership in 2020. The list of invitees also includes some big Hollywood names like Zendaya, Awkwafina, Cynthia Erivo, John David Washington, Constance Wu, Zazie Beetz, Florence Pugh, Olivia Wilde among others.
Last year, in 2019, the Academy had invited 842 new members which included filmmakers Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap and veteran actor Anupam Kher.
In the previous years, Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Madhuri Dixit, Aamir Khan, Tabu, among others had also been invited to be part of the organization. ALSO READ: After The Oscars, Golden Globes Postponed By Nearly By Two Months, To Be Held In February 2021
