Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor And Shilpa Shetty Are Obsessing Over This New Age Designer!
Punit Balana is the designer behind our Bollywood fashionistas Indian wear obsession! Bringing back forgotten block prints, this designer is soon becoming a favourite of the stars!
Have you noticed the swarm of Bollywood celebrities decked in Indian wear that have taken over social media this season? But amongst all those envy-inducing anarkalis, and kurta-dresses, and flowy pajamas in beautiful ivory and blue, we spotted a common thread that tied our celebrities together.
These block print wonders are creations of designer Punit Balana, who seems to have become a go-to for every stylist and celebrity in town! While he may not be a household name yet, his work inspired by Rajasthan and its traditional textile and embroidery, and his various interpretations of the Indian wear certainly has our hearts!
Not confined to traditions, his Indian wear concepts, give us a little peek into his knowledge of the lanes of Jaipur, which end up in some of the most interesting Indian wear designs we have come across, and these Bollywood celebrities are proof!
While the anarkali has been a classic outfit for any event, Vidya Balan and Alia Bhatt’s recent outfits were perfect reminders! One amongst the various Indian designers Alia wore through her promotional events for Kalank, was this white and gold zari work anarkali from Punit Balana. Vidya Balan’s comfortable chic blue anarkali with subtle embroidery and the patent block prints had us want to stock up on the print too!
Another patent print by the designer are these hexagonal blue embroidered numbers. While the anarkali’s are kept classic the designer seems to have modernised the traditional Rajasthani works! You get an idea of how Punit explores these old world concepts, not just restricting himself to Indian wear. The balloon sleeved matching blouse that Shilpa Shetty wore was modernist-vintage, and we’re living for it. Taking the print beyond traditional, the pantsuit Dia Mirza donned is completely in sync with the power dressing trend this season! The prints were also the showliners for the designers Lakme Fashion Week 2019 runway show.
Even the millennials are gung-ho about his designs. We have spotted Janhvi Kapoor in some of his iconic pieces making her way back home from the gym! The comfortable feminine vibes these outfits exudes have us obsessing too! Punit has been showcasing his work on fashion runways throughout the country, his recent showcase being at the Lakme Fashion Week summer/resort 2019. While the designer isn’t as exclusive with his range, each of the outfits are made to order at selected websites.
