Vedaa Movie REVIEW: John Abraham-Sharvari's Noteworthy Performance Couldn't Save Nikkhil Advani's Chaotic Mess
Nikkhil Advani's newly released Film Vedaa starring John Abraham and Sharvari in the lead starts off strongly setting the premise for an engaging redemption thriller but fails miserably in the second half and looks like the director seems to wind up things in a hurry. Nikkhil's Batla House protege takes on the role of an Indian Army jawan from the Gorkha regiment who is introduced to us via a joint coveted mission to take down a terrorist who killed his loved interest played by Tamannah Bhatia. His actions of not following commands and taking revenge follow his unfortunate court martial making him go to a rural Bairwa village in Rajasthan where his wife belongs, he chooses to live the rest of his life in her memory. Here when our leading lady Sharvari is introduced as a small-town low-caste college girl who aspires to become a boxer in a world full of patriarchy and peak casteism, John's entry in her life becomes like a ray of hope but a local minister (Abhishekh Banerjee) emerges as a heartless antagonist who happens to be an upper caste man with power and politics. ALSO READ: John Abraham Heaps Praises On Abhishek Banerjee’s Action Sequences In Vedaa; Actor Says, ‘Can’t Reveal Much, But It Will Leave You Surprised’

Things become intense when John Abraham becomes John Wick to save this girl who is running from the villains over some tragic events and here's when unnecessary actions start to discomfort you as an audience. In the quest for justice, Abhimanyu and Vedaa are on a run while the baddies go full stretch to chase them and take them down before they reach the court. Well, here's where the problem lies! Yup it's the second half that ruins this great potential film in every aspect. Bullets and grenades, Rohit Shetty's car crashing, all in one dramatic over-the-head sequence starts to dilute this great subject film. Agar koi aadmi bolta hai ki usae marne se darr nai lagta, ya toh vo jhooth bol raha hai ya toh woh Gorkha hai! Just one whistle-blowing dialogue in the entire film is not enough to ignore the nuances sequenceit was filled with. The nonsensical climax in the institution of court was one the most disastrous movie endings I've ever seen. John getting up after being hit with 6-7 bullets made me get up from my seat to take a look break. Climax is all about chaos and a series of messed up action sequences literally murder logic

No doubt Sharvari and John Abraham gave an honest performance and their screen presence was well felt but it's the script where the problem lies and the rushed execution towards the end. Abhishekh Banerjee plays a brutual badass villain so convincingly and his dialogue delivery was top notch. The writing falters big time and there are hardly any dialogues that would strike a right chord among the viewers. Overall, Vedaa felt like a good attempt getting wasted due to its chaotic second half. Advani could have worked on the second half and made it more interesting for the audience but unfortunately its a disastrous one. I would say watch this one at your own risk.
