Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3 REVIEW: THIS James Gunn Finale Is A Wholesome Package Of All Things Good And One Of 'THE BEST' Marvel Films; PERIOD!
According to Marvel comics, Guardians of the Galaxy is typically all about humour, violence, action, love, drama and stupidity. Well, guess what? The James Gunn finale has finally lived up to its comics. What a movie!

Let’s be real, covering the entire comic verse in merely a trilogy is quite impossible. But, the baseline is that whatever Gunn has done with the Guardians Of The Galaxy franchise is commendable (except for the second instalment). Now, the director is back with the last and final instalment of the franchise, and the final goodbye just couldn’t be any better!

The film starts off with visuals of an adolescent rocket in a cage and a hand slowly reaches out to grab him while Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ plays in the background. That’s when you know; it’s going to be an awesome film. This James Gunn directorial primarily focuses on Rocket Racoon’s origin story and how he came to be known as one of the most savage members of the GoTG.

However, the plot never overshadows other characters. In fact, the film does justice to every person connected with the storyline. Apart from Rocket, the film explores multiple layers of Peter Quill aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Groot (Vin Diesel), and even Adam Warlock (Will Poulter). (If that’s not near-perfect, I don’t know what is.)

The well-executed drama is nothing less than a masterpiece as the film gracefully narrates Rocket’s past and how his friends put their life on the line to save him and the planet while he remains on his deathbed. The film gives out a few familiar faces for the fans to cheer and hoot, but volume 3 is much more than just giving the audience a mere nostalgia moment.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3 is the living embodiment of James Gunn’s genius. This rollercoaster of a film has yet again given its audience one impeccable soundtrack, setting another example of how music and songs elevate a movie.

Well, the film just doesn’t stop there to impress you!

The makers even added warm fuzzy animals and space animals (yes, I know it sounds absurd, but there’s no other way to put it) who make dumb and cute puppy faces right on the screen. How can one overlook that?

(There’s no arguing, the film would never have worked without James Gunn.)

The film keeps you on the edge of your seats with its surprises! GoTG fares well with James Gunn’s wholesome packaging, including - action, story, special effects, humour, a walking-talking tree, a dog and a cute alien pet, and the impeccable performances from all the stars making this film worth every cheer and hoot you’ve been saving since Endgame.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3 has plenty of moments to debate about but it was the action sequence in a passageway that probably outshined every other scene from the entire MCU. While the scene appeared to be inspired by Resident Evil, the gory and violent clip forces you to hold your breath as Groot, Drax, Peter, Nebula, Mantis, tear their way through a barrage of enemies, while Rocket shoots his way out. However, it’s Gamora’s slicing skills that get your attention. It is merely a 2-minute action sequence, but the level of choreography and direction will leave you dumbfounded.

High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji) makes for a great villain. The mean, shallow and terrifying gave the film a personality, making it one of the saddest and darkest MCU films.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3 is a rollercoaster of emotions and the film is a bundle of everything good. It’s funny, tremendously emotional and the roundest film in the saga. Apart from being a well-scripted and mindfully executed flick; this James Gunn directorial is much more than just another superhero film. It is a happy place to come back to in the MCU as the gang of misfits are in fact Marvel's heartiest heroes.

But, (honestly, I am not a big fan of Marvel films), it was great to join the audience clap, cheer, hoot, laugh, and cry in this fitting send-off.
