Baaghi 3, Movie Review: HI To Tiger Shroff's BAAG Of Colossal Action But Hum Nahin Huye Ghayal
Tiger Shroff-Shraddha Kapoor starrer Baaghi 3 needed more emotion, it stands diluted with too much action
Director Ahmed Khan perhaps saw Ghayal on YouTube or wherever recently and headed to Sajid Nadiadwala that let's make Ghayal 3. End result- Baaghi 3 which left me with a strong feeling that Ahmed didn't see Rajkumar Santoshi's epic film beyond a few reels.
So, where does Baaghi go topsy-turvy after a sedate start? The downslide happens at the popcorn break when Ahmed feels that he hasn't utilised Tiger much as Tiger. Maybe Ahmed didn't see War at all, wherein Tiger put up a good show despite Hrithik Roshan being in most frames with him.
So yeah, while I didn't eat any popcorn because I think multiplexes fleece Rs 340 for a quantity of Rs 60, I returned after a short phone-call to see that Ahmed has given orders to Tiger that he should now strip a bit. Outcome- Shroff Jr goes sleeveless for a large part of the second half. And then it all boils down to- jumping sideways on cars (a la Hrithik style), slow-mos, somersaults, cart-wheeling, kicks and what not. And of course, a lot of fire. Obviously, too much destruction.
Ab hota yeh hai in this destruction that the emotion is lost. Gosh, kya emotion tha for even just those 20-30 minutes when Sunny Deol tries to find Raj Babbar in Ghayal. Rengte khade ho gaye the!
Syria was just not required in the film for the Riteish hunt which Tiger and Shraddha embark upon. Unknown people walking on streets, unknown characters trying to mouth some dialogues which need sub-titles, and hey there's a guy inspired from even Anu Kapoor's part in Santoshi's labour of love.
Shraddha has very little to do, except mouth a few masked gaalis. Uff, those scenes wherein Meenakshi Seshadri comforts Sunny still bring a lump in the throat.
Riteish Deshmukh has been perfectly cast as the clumsy, frightened brother. But how can he help when the ambiance around him fails to gather depth?
A special mention for Ankita Lokhande. The lady impresses but again, Ahmed has hardly written anything for her.
Jackie Shroff yet again in a 2-minute, 2-scene role! Why? Why? Why?
Ahmed has let down Sajid Nadiadwala (producer) big time. Nadiadwala never compromises on production values and is a treat to work with. Frittering away an opportunity on a story which needed feelings is nothing short of harakiri.
I am going with TWO-and-HALF.
