Zoya Akhtar Reacts To Kangana Ranaut’s Gully Boy Criticism; Says ‘She’s Gone On Every Platform And Said She Doesn’t Like My Work’
Actress Kangana Ranaut who is known to speak freely and voice out her opinion recently opened up Nepotism, Bollywood mafia gang, and lots more in an explosive interview with Republic TV. As the Nepotism debate continues, it was recently when lyricist Javed Akhtar, kids Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar spoke up and voiced their opinions on the same. After Kangana Ranaut recently mentioned that she found Sushant Singh Rajput’s Chhichhore better than Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy, the filmmaker reacts to the criticism, amid nepotism debate.

Speaking with India Today, as Kangana said that late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s film Chhichhore was more deserving and a better film than Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy, the is not bothered by criticism and conversation whether or if the film deserved the awards it got. Director Zoya Akhtar said, “Not at all, because I didn’t go for the award ceremonies, for starters, and it’s not important. She herself has boycotted the awards, so I don’t know why she keeps talking about them.”

Talking about it further, Zoya Akhtar continued, “You make a film and everybody is entitled to their opinion, and they are entitled to share this opinion because we are still a democracy. I can’t get offended. I have chosen to be here and do this work, and there will be people who don’t like my work and there are people that like my work, and it’s fine.” Zoya Akhtar responded to Kangana’s Gully Boy criticism and said that everyone is entitled to their opinion.


Moving on, when asked if she would invite Kangana Ranaut to her next party, Zoya Akhtar spoke on how the actress has gone up and expressed her opinion about the filmmaker’s work. Meanwhile, quite a few times, Kangana Ranaut mentioned how she was not much excited about Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. Talking about the film, Gully Boy won 13 Filmfare awards and was a huge box-office success. The film was also selected as India’s official entry to the 2020 Oscars.
