Yudhra Fails to Make an Impact With a Lackluster Performance, While Stree Dominates the Box Office With Roaring Success
Excel Entertainment’s Yudhra has sunk without a trace. After a reasonably cost-effective start, thanks to all tickets across the board being priced at Rs 99 on Friday , the collections fell on Saturday . Until Monday the collections are close to Rs 8 crores ,which is neither here nor there.
Analyzing the downspiral in the collections Roshan Singh, a leading exhibitor in Bihar says, “The Yudhra collections were expected to fall from Day 2, and they did . Sidhanth Chaturvedi is not hero material. That sad, Yudhra needed a solid script. All it got was a routine revenge drama on the lines of Ruslaan featuring Salman Khan’s brother-in-law which came and flopped some months ago. On the other hand, a re-release Tumbadd fared better in its second week than Yudhra in its first week.”
Yudhra closed at around 8 crores over the weekend making it a losing proposition. Fortunately the investments were low. Siddhant Chaturvedi was paid just a token amount. Excel had launched him in Gully Boy, and seem to believe in him.But why are Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani investing in such low-budget projects?
Chaturvedi who plays the titutal bulldozer, has little scope or occasion to act, except in the pre-climax where he presumes his girl(lying inert in a bathtub, having exhausted herself with her overacting) is dead. For the rest Chaturvedi clenches his fists grits his pearly white teeth and roars towards the villains with bullish energy. He is the umpteenth avatar of Amitabh Bachchan’s Angry Young Man and arguably the poorest one yet.
