On Thursday, rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh’s wife Shalini Talwar went on to reveal on record that she was physically assaulted by Singh over the last 10 years while claiming that his family broke her mentally and emotionally. Furthermore, she even alleged that he was ‘addicted to alcohol’ and had multiple physical relationships with other women. Talwar has also filed a case against her husband under the 'Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act’ in Delhi's Tis Hazari Court.
Well, seeing so many accusations levelled against him, Singh has now finally decided to break the silence and present his side of the story'. He took to social media and released his official statement, dismissing all the allegations and called it ‘cynical and defaming in nature’. “I am deeply pained and distressed by the false and malicious allegations levied against me and my family by my companion/wife of 20 years, Mrs Shalini Talwar,” he said in the statement.
He further continued, “The allegations are severely odious. I have never issued a public statement or press note in the past despite being subjected to harsh criticism for my lyrics, speculation on my health, & negative media coverage in general. However, I see no merit in maintaining a studied silence this time because some of the allegations have been directed at my family – my old parents and younger sister – who have stood by me during some very difficult and trying times and comprise my world. The allegations are cynical and defaming in nature.”
In the statement, he ‘strongly’ condemns all the allegations but asserted he will not comment any further ‘because the matter is sub-judice before the Court of Law.’ Stating that he has full faith in the judicial system of this country, he is confident that the truth will prevail.
