Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Todenge: Amitabh Bachchan Wishes Dharmendra On His 81st Birthday
As Garam Dharam turns 81, his Sholay co-star and friend, Big B, posted a lovely throwback picture of the two superstars together
Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter to share a sweet post to mark fellow Bollywood icon Dharmendra 81st birthday.
'Ye dosti hum nai todenge...' this anthem to friendship which was picturised on Bachchan and Dharmendra in the blockbuster Sholay, still remains a popular ode to yaari-dosti.
And thus it came as no surprise when the BIg B decided to mark the birthday with a behind-the-scenes shot from the making of the film, where their camaraderie is obvious.
Dharmendra, the star of evergreen hits like Seeta Aur Geeta, Phool Aur Patthar, Chupke Chupke and Sholay, spends most of his time at his Khandala-Lonavla farmhouse. On occasion, he hangs out with the janta comprising his loyal fans at a nearby dhaba, regaling them with shero-shayari. (As He Turns 81, Dharmendra Says: I’d Rather Be An Insaan Than A Devta’, Dec 6).
For over a decade now, Dharmendra has developed a penchant for poetry and has been writing couplets and verses himself. He has rejected lucrative offers from publishers for his autobiography, saying that he has been authoring one himself – in Urdu! When it is ready he may self-publish it.
Meanwhile, many television channels will celebrate the legendary actor's 81st birthday with week-long film festivals which will showcase the different avatars of the hero.
