Will Varun Dhawan And Sara Ali Khan's Coolie No 1 Feel The Heat From Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman 1984 Releasing In 2000 Screens This Christmas?
Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan's Coolie No 1 is set to release on Christmas and so is Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman 1984.
Will Wonder Woman 1984 revive the Indian moviegoers’ habit of going to movie theatres this Christmas? That’s what the film’s producers-distributors Warner Brothers are hoping for. According to sources at Warner Bros, Wonder Woman 1984 will release in approximately 2000 screens across India in four languages(Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu) thereby providing the audience with ample temptation to get over their Covid-19 anxieties.
This gives Disney+ Hotstar a reason to get anxious. Apparently they’ve paid a larger price for David Dhawan’s Coolie No 1 than any other Indian feature film on the streaming platform in the hope of getting a massive captive audience during Christmas and New Years. But now with Wonder Woman 1984 competing with the father-son duo, Disney+ Hotstar has reason to worry.
Says a source in the loop, “Disney+ Hotstar were definitely hoping to get the undivided attention of moviegoers for Coolie No 1. Now there is definitely competition for Christmas eyeballs.”
Coolie No 1 that stars Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan was to release in the month of May 2020, however, due to the lockdown following the pandemic, the film's released got pushed. Even though the theatres have re-opened, the makers decided to release the film on OTT Platform and deliver it as a Christmas gift to fans. Coolie No 1 will release on December 25. The trailer and songs have already proved to be a hit. Now it remains to be seen how it survives the strong competition from Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman 1984.
