Why Hrithik said No to Karan Johar yet again
While KJo was willing to look past the Shuddhi episode and offered him a film, the actor snubbed him again
Hrithik Roshan was one of the contenders for the male lead in Karan Johar’s Partition drama, Kalank, which is being directed by 2 States director Abhishek Varman.
But the actor turned the film down – making this his second ‘No’ to KJo. You may recall that Hrithik was the first choice for Shuddhi. After signing on the dotted line, the good-looking actor walked out of the project unceremoniously and the Karan Malhotra-directed film has been in limbo since then.
So what went wrong this time with Kalank?
SpotboyE has it that Hrithik told KJo in no uncertain terms that he was not interested in doing a period drama.
A source close to the development says, “Hrithik has already done Jodha Akbar and his next, Mohenjo Daro too is a historical. So he was certain that he didn’t want to be a part of another period drama again.”
Wonder what was Karan’s reaction to this. After all, Kalank’s story was originally conceived by his father Yash Johar, who had been through Partition himself and had even gone to Lahore to do research for the film.
