One of the biggest music labels in India, T-Series, was founded by late music producer Gulshan Kumar in 1983. Being one of the most recognised personalities in the country, he met his demise in 1997, when he was shot 16 times at the Jiteshwar Mahadev Mandir in Andheri, Mumbai. His son Bhushan Kumar and younger brother Krishan Kumar took over the reins of the company and helped it flourish. If reports are to be believed the Kumar family has a net worth of Rs 10,000 crores.
For the unversed, before venturing into producing films, the late music producer’s lesser-known younger brother tried his hands at acting. He made his debut in Bollywood with the film Aaja Meri Jaan in 1993. The film co-starred his now-wife Tanya Singh. As the film was released, he received a lot of mixed reactions from the critics as well as the audiences. He went on to work in films like Kasam Teri Kasam, Shabnam, Bewafa Sanam, Pagla Kahin Ka, and Papa the Great.
Despite his repeated appearances in movies, he failed to make a mark in the Hindi entertainment industry as an action. He soon ventured into production and became a well-known producer. The first film Kumar produced was the Salman Khan starrer Lucky: No Time for Love. he went on to produce other movies like Ready, Nautanki Saala!, Airlift, Satyameva Jayate, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, De De Pyaar De, Tanhaji, Thappad, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and Animal, among many others.
Talking about his personal life, Kumar tied the knot with Tanya Singh, daughter of renowned composer Ajit Singh, in July 2002. Having worked together in their debut film, Aaja Meri Jaan, they reportedly knew each other even before making their acting debut as Gulshan Kumar has allegedly been in contact with Tanya’s father. Krishan and Tanya soon welcomed their daughter Tishaa Kumar.
The Kumar family was left heartbroken and shocked after a 21-year-old Tishaa left for her heavenly abode after succumbing during her cancer treatment. If reports are to be believed, she was undergoing treatment in Germany where she passed away. Despite having resources for the best treatments, the doctors couldn’t save her life.
