Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan are undoubtedly one of Bollywood's most iconic couples. Their love story is a testament to their commitment and cultural inclusivity. The couple got married in 1991, celebrating their union through three distinct ceremonies to honour each other’s traditions. They first had a registered marriage, followed by a Hindu ceremony, and then a nikah. Remarkably, all three ceremonies took place on the same day, showcasing their dedication to blending their diverse cultural backgrounds. Six years into their marriage, Shah Rukh and Gauri welcomed their first child, Aryan. Their family expanded with the birth of Suhana in 2000 and AbRam in 2013. Despite their long and happy marriage, Gauri faced significant challenges from her parents due to religious differences. When she appeared on the first season of Karan Johar’s chat show, "Koffee With Karan," in 2005, Gauri candidly discussed these challenges. She shared the Koffee couch with Hrithik Roshan’s now ex-wife, Sussanne Khan, and opened up about the initial resistance her parents had towards her marriage with Shah Rukh. Gauri explained that with Shah Rukh's parents having passed away long ago, she took the lead in organizing religious activities at home. She would arrange prayers for Diwali, Holi, and other festivals, ensuring that their children were exposed to her religious traditions. Interestingly, she noted that their eldest son, Aryan, gravitated more towards Shah Rukh’s religion. She remarked, “Aryan is so into Shah Rukh, that he would follow his religion I feel. He will always say, ‘I am a Muslim.’” This declaration often puzzled her mother, who was still adjusting to the interfaith dynamics.

Gauri emphasized her respect for Shah Rukh’s religion but made it clear that she would not convert to Islam. She believes in individual religious identity and mutual respect. “There is a balance. I respect Shah Rukh’s religion, but that doesn’t mean that I would convert and become a Muslim. I don’t believe in that. I think everybody is an individual and follows their religion. But, obviously, there should be no disrespect. Like Shah Rukh would not disrespect my religion as well,” Gauri stated, highlighting the mutual respect they maintain for each other’s beliefs.

During the same interview, Karan Johar inquired if Gauri ever felt insecure about the immense female attention Shah Rukh receives. Initially hesitant, Gauri admitted her discomfort with such questions but eventually responded with humor and grace. She said, “I have an aversion to these questions. Since it's you, I totally go blank when people even want to ask me these questions, I get really irritated, but anyway, I pray to God every day, little off track I’m gonna go that if we are not supposed to be together and he has to be with somebody else, then God help me also find somebody else also. And I hope he is handsome.”

Gauri’s candidness and sense of humor reflect the strength and confidence she has in her relationship with Shah Rukh. Their story is not just one of love, but also of resilience and respect, making them one of the most admired couples in the entertainment industry.
