When Fauji Director Revealed Shah Rukh Khan Was Always Late On Sets; Here's How He Taught SRK A Lesson In Punctuality
LOL! Fauji's director had once shared how he ran behind Shah Rukh Khan with a stone to teach him a lesson for always being late
Shah Rukh Khan is among one of the most talented, successful, rich and charming actors that Bollywood has ever produced. Throughout his career span of more than two decades, the superstar has been a part of several films of various genres and has proved his mettle as one spectacular actor. However, SRK's roots come from the television industry. It's a known fact that SRK forayed into the world of acting with a television show named Fauji but did you know he wasn't destined to play the lead role initially? Yes, in an old interview, the show's director Colonel Raj Kapoor had made some interesting revelations.
The late director revealed how SRK, as Lt Abhimanyu Rai, was roped in as the second lead. "But the camera chose him because it simply loved the boy,” he said. Spilling the beans on how the actor came on board, Kapoor stated that it happened when SRK's mother was looking for a house with the help of Colonel Kapoor’s son-in-law Kamal, who was into real estate. She had then mentioned how her son was an actor, to which, he said his father-in-law working on a new TV show and SRK met him. Colonel Kapoor recalled meeting SRK for the first time when the latter was 23 years old.
“I was looking for commandos and he turned up at my office. I took a look at him and asked ‘You are going to be a commando?’ He said ‘Yes, sir. I will do the role really well’. I took these guys, there were around eight or nine boys, for a run. I was pleasantly surprised that he (Shah Rukh Khan) hung on but half the people left and didn’t come back from the run," revealed Colonel Kapoor.
Further, Col Kapoor also revealed how he brought an end to Shah Rukh Khan's habit of never arriving on time. “Once, I ran behind him with a stone and that put an end to his punctuality ills,” joked the director.
