A new video of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan from Cannes 2019 is doing the rounds of the internet.

In the clip, the Jazbaa actress addresses the fact that more than Bollywood, Hindi Film cinema has many more things to offer. The video begins with the host saying that people should know that Indian cinema is not about Bollywood. The host further talks about political- comedy Newton that not only won the best picture in India and it was also India’s pick for the Oscars in 2019. The host then asked Aishwarya if she thinks that the success of films like that can draw global audiences to another kind of Indian cinema.” Replying to the host Aishwarya began the answer saying, “This term ‘Bollywood’ don’t for how long we try to run away from it but we are just stuck with it because it’s even in the dictionary. So, there’s no getting away from it.”
She then went on to say that, “We always identified our cinemas as the Indian Film Industry, that entails primary Hindi films, but we have got Tamil, Bengali, Malayalam films. They are made in all the languages of India. Even Hindi films got primarily recognized because of its music. I’ve been an audience to our films as well and I enjoy the song and dance and it’s a great getaway. Having said that, it has not always been our cinema.”

She then added, “But with the world is getting smaller, with the kind of attention being shared, social media, there’s this entire moment of us just feeling that we all now belong to the more intimate global community and with that kind of attention you discover a lot more of our cinema which has always existed.” (ALSO READ: Amitabh Bachchan And Jaya Bachchan's 'JALSA' is A True Royal Abode; Get An INSIDE Tour To Big B's Worth 100 Crore Home)
