A 24-year-old fan from Delhi travelled all the way to Mumbai, specifically to Salman Khan’s Panvel farmhouse, with a strong desire to meet and marry the superstar. Unfortunately, since Salman was not in India, she couldn’t meet him and ended up causing quite a commotion outside his farmhouse. According to a report by the Times of India (TOI), local villagers spotted the girl loitering around and subsequently called the police. The Panvel Taluka police arrived on the scene and detained her, later handing her over to an NGO, the Social and Evangelical Association for Love (SEAL), for further counselling.

The young fan was resolute in her intention to marry Salman Khan and was not easily dissuaded. Her obsession with the actor’s on-screen persona posed a significant challenge for the superintendents at the shelter. The NGO owner recounted, “The Delhi woman was brought to our shelter home on May 22, and we found her condition quite serious, as she refused to listen to us, and kept saying she wanted to marry Khan. She was fully in love with his screen image.” Her parents, who were unaware of her journey, were called from Delhi and were shocked to discover that their daughter had travelled alone to Mumbai. After eight days of treatment and counselling, the girl showed significant improvement and was eventually released. Reflecting on her experience, she shared with TOI, “I have been watching Salman films since childhood and innocently thought I could marry him. Now, after coming to Panvel and undergoing all this (treatment), I have realized that I was wrong. He (Salman) is living his own life, and is not the same as what he does in films.”

This incident underscores the profound impact that celebrities can have on their fans, sometimes leading to unrealistic fantasies and actions. It also highlights the importance of addressing such issues with sensitivity and appropriate intervention, as demonstrated by the NGO and the authorities involved in helping the young fan.
