Was Ranveer Singh, Not Diljit Dosanjh, The First Choice For Former Indian Hockey Captain Sandeep Singh's Role In Soorma? Deets Inside
Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Sandeep Singh recently revealed that Ranveer Singh was the first choice to play the lead in Soorma - in place of Diljit Dosanjh.
Former Indian Hockey captain Sandeep Singh recently revealed that heartthrob Ranveer Singh was the first choice to play the lead actor in his biopic Soorma instead of singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh. Yes, you read that right! In an interview with India Today, Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Sandeep Singh talked about how the Gully Boy actor was earlier considered for the biopic. However, he also mentioned that Ranveer was not his first choice as he wanted someone who would 'look like a real Sikh'.
“Ranveer Singh was definitely considered as the lead actor instead of Diljit Dosanjh. However, he was not my first choice. His look as a Sikh appealed to everyone, and they thought that he would be a good fit for Soorma... I always wanted the person who'd play my role in the film to look like a real Sikh,” Sandeep stated.
The ace hockey player also opened up on giving training to Diljit and was all praises for him. He said it was really easy to train the Punjabi Singer because his "nature is as such that he picks up things really quick." It took him hardly three-four months to train Diljit as his learning power was quick.
Sandeep Singh also expressed his gratitude to Taapsee Pannu, director Shaad Ali and the producers Chitrangada Singh and Deepak Singh for doing their job so well.
Soorma revolved around ace hockey player Sandeep Singh, who was accidentally shot during a train journey in 2006. Sandeep’s character was well essayed by Diljit Dosanjh in the sports biopic, which was released on July 13, 2018.
