Kiran Rao gets candid about her miscarriages in the past before the birth of her son Azad via surrogacy
Aamir Khan first met his future wife, Kiran Rao, while working on the film Lagaan in 2002. Despite initial distance on set, they began dating two years later in 2004, and married soon after in 2005. The couple welcomed their son, Azad, through surrogacy in 2011, enjoying nearly a decade of marital bliss. However, in 2021, they announced their separation, leaving fans surprised.
Kiran recently spoke about her journey to motherhood and the challenges she faced. She wanted a child for many years but experienced several miscarriages and health issues. Her dream finally came true with Azad's birth, which coincided with the making of her film "Dhobi Ghat." She emphasized that becoming a mother was her priority, saying it was an incredibly fulfilling period of her life and she does not regret stepping back from filmmaking during that time.
Kiran also touched upon her decision to take a break to focus on raising Azad, mentioning that it was the best decision she could have made. Watching her son grow up was an enriching experience, one that she would not trade for anything. Despite the challenges of divorce, Aamir and Kiran have managed to remain close and co-parent Azad, spending quality time together as a family.
