Vishal Dadlani On Remixing Old Songs: ‘The Way That They Are Are Made Currently, It’s Disrespectful’ - SoundcastE Exclusive
Bollywood, in today’s time, has become synonymous with remixes. Well, most of the upcoming films have old iconic songs that been either remade or remixed. However, there’s one celebrity that recently criticised this movement of remixing old songs. We are talking about music composer and producer Vishal Dadlani, who even went on to threaten all the musicians of not remaking his songs and promised them of dragging to the court. This came after Vishal’s Saki Saki was recreated and he fears that songs like Dus Bahaane, Desi Girl, Sajnaaji Vaari Vaari and more are in the pipeline.

Well, this isn’t the first time that Dadlani has raised his voice against the remix tradition in Bollywood. Earlier, in an exclusive conversation with Eva Bhatt, Host of the Podcast on 9XM SoundcastE, the musician had shared his two cents and stated that he feels that the way songs are being remade now, it’s disrespectful. “Shekhar (Ravjiani) and I are both, even though life mein humne kareeban 4 remixes kiye hai, remakes kiye hai, it’s not something that we enjoy; it’s not a movement that we support. Aur yeh remake ka jo culture hai who khatam hojaye toh humse zyada khush koi nahi hoga, because the way that remakes are made currently, matlab kilo ke bhav se remixes ho rahe hai gaane, it’s disrespectful.”

“We guys are lovers of original music and, for example, when we did the reworking of Bachna Ae Haseeno, we did it with a lot of love and respect for Pancham Da (RD Burman) and Majnu sahib and the same for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. We, in fact, put Pancham Da and Kishore Da’s name in the lyrics in the song, if you listen to it. So, if you are going to do a remake then you should respect the original more. So, na kare toh behtar hai,” he added.
