Village In Maharashtra Has Been Renamed After Irrfan Khan; Beloved Late Star Finds A Home Away From Home

Bollywood lost one of the finest gems on April 29 when Irrfan Khan left us for his heavenly abode after valiantly fighting with the deadly  disease  Neuroendocrine Tumour and Colon infection. Even though he has left us, leaving us mourning, it is impossible to forget this gem as well as his remarkable work. He has done some diverse roles in the past which gained him an acclaimed status for himself, not just in Bollywood but also in the West, he has made a name for himself in Hollywood. As the actor still lives on in the hearts of millions, a villager In Maharashtra renamed the locality after Irrfan Khan.

Well, according to a report in India Today, Irrfan Khan has made a difference in the lives of the people who reside in the village Igatpuri and that's the reason why they have decided to rename a locality after Irrfan Khan, the man who helped in uplifting the lives of several students who belonged to underprivileged families there. "We are going to formally name it Hero-chi-Wadi," Gorakh Bodke, who is a member of the Zilla Parishad in Igatpuri, told India Today.

Now, that's an honourable feat. Hero-chi-Wadi in Marathi means neighbourhood of a hero. Whenever we needed him, he stood by us.

The report also mentioned that Bodke recalls the time when he once requested Irrfan who had bought a plot there for a weekend gateway, for an ambulance for people to take to the nearest medical centre. Without thinking twice about it, Irrfan donated one. He gave us an ambulance, sponsored school structures and books for students,” Bodke added.
