Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has garnered a huge fanbase, over the years, owing to her versatile performances. She has been credited as one of the most-sought after celebrities in the country as her acting prowess often leaves the fans mesmerised. While the audience showers her with love and adoration for her playful personality, she has also faced a lot of body-shaming questions and comments be it on social media or on-camera.

In a video that is currently going viral on social media, she was once body-shamed by a ‘bold’ journalist who advised her to lose weight. It all happened during a press conference that was held after the release of her movie Tumhari Sulu (2017). She was talking to a section of journalists, when someone asked her if she wants to star in more women-centric roles or if she plans on losing weight so that she could do more glamorous roles. While the question left her shocked she proceeded to explain how she is very happy doing the type of movies she is being offered. Being one of the wittiest actresses, she went on to say, “Mein jo kaam kar rahi hoon usse bahut khush hoon. Aap logon ka nazariya badal jaaye toh bahut achha hoga.”

Earlier in an interview with Hindustan Times, Vidya had spoken about how people who fat-shame other should change their perspective. She had said, “Why do we not turn around and tell these people, who fat shame us, that you should actually be ashamed because you have got such a small mind? Nothing you do can ever change that, exercise, diet, the right kind of sleep, maybe medication!... whatever can even change our body, but nothing can change your mind! God bless you!”
