Vidya Balan Recalls When A Producer Made Her Feel Ugly After Replacing Her In A Film: 'I Didn't Have The Courage To Look In The Mirror For Six Months'
One of the finest actresses of Bollywood Vidya Balan is known to wear her heart on her sleeves. She never shies away from doing things differently. The actress is known to break stereotypes associated with Bollywood heroines. On several grounds, she has advocated the importance of women’s empowerment. Vidya is currently busy promoting her upcoming film Jalsa. In a recent interview, she opened up about an incident where she was made to feel ugly.

Vidya Balan in her interaction with Prabhat Khabar recalled a phase where she couldn’t look at herself for six months because one of the producers made her feel so ugly. She was quoted saying, “When one producer replaced me in a film, their behaviour with me was very bad. They made me feel so ugly that for six months, I could not gather the courage to look at myself in the mirror." Before making it big in the Hindi film industry, the ‘Paa’ actress had her own fair share of struggle. Early in her career, she was replaced in several films and Vidya calls it the lowest phase of her career. Recalling the bad phase, Vidya shared that after getting rejected in a dozen films, there came a time when she was so upset with everything that she walked straight from Marine Drive to Bandra barefoot in the scorching heat.


Over the years, Vidya has delivered some power-packed roles which are worth appreciating. She has done films like Paa, Dirty Picture, Shakuntala Devi, Kahaani, and many more that have proved her acting prowess. Next, she will be seen in an investigation thriller Jalsa along with Shefali Shah which will have an OTT release on Prime Video on 18th March.
