Vicky Kaushal Is Unrecognisable As Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw In Meghna Gulzar's Next
Vicky Kaushal is on a roll! The actor has some really interesting films in his kitty. Earlier, we got to see Vicky's first look in Sardar Udham Singh, which impressed us. But now, the URI actor unveils his another look and it will completely blow our mind. Kaushal shared his first look poster from Meghna Gulzar's next where he will be essaying the role of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in the film. After seeing his first look, our josh to seem onscreen is sky high!

Kaushal is honoured and emotional and proud in getting to play this role. While sharing the first look of himself, he wrote, "I feel honoured, emotional and proud of getting a chance to unfold the journey of this fearless patriot, the swashbuckling general, the first Field Marshal of India- SAM MANEKSHAW. Remembering him on his death anniversary today and embracing the new beginnings with @meghnagulzar and #RonnieScrewvala."

The director of the film, Meghna Gulzar too took to her Instagram account and shared Vicky's look, captioning, "A Soldier’s Soldier.  A Gentleman’s Gentleman.  In remembrance, on the death anniversary of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.  It is my honour to tell the story of one of India's greatest war heroes, with @vickykaushal09 essaying the historic man!"

While talking to Mumbai Mirror, Meghna Gulzar said, “We wanted to finish the edit on the draft first before reaching out to an actor. One day, I just called up Vicky, who happened to be nearby and invited him over for a cold coffee. We had a conversation about Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. He was about to fly to the US and said that he doesn’t want to read the script and would just do the film. But I insisted that he read it and call me.”

Vicky too shared his thoughts in the report as saying, “I personally couldn’t witness his achievements, but my parents would always tell me that he was a fearless patriot with amazing leadership quality. The first time I’d heard of him in the context of the 1971 Indo-Pak war.”

Those who are unaware of the personality, Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw was the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of the Indian Army and best-known for commanding the Indian forces during the India-Pakistan 1971 war. Popularly called ‘Sam Bahadur’, he was the first Indian officer to be promoted to the rank of a field marshal. One of free India’s most successful commanders, his achievements lay as a military commander and as a leader. He remains a “lasting model of professional, upright conduct and command mystique”.

Currently, Vicky Kaushal is shooting for Shoojit Sircar's next. Sardar Udham Singh will now hit the big screens on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2, next year.
