Veteran actor Naeem Sayyed, also known as Junior Mehmood, has left for his heavenly abode at the age of 67. He passed away after a prolonged battle with stage four stomach cancer at his residence in Mumbai. According to various media reports, he was undergoing treatment at the Tata Memorial Hospital in Parel. His health had reportedly started deteriorating and he was kept on oxygen support. Confirming the news of his death, his friend shared details of his funeral.
Junior Mehmood’s close friend Salam Kazi spoke to ETimes about the death of the actor. Confirming the news, he told the publication that the late actor’s funeral will be held at around noon at the Juhu Muslim Cemetery in Santacruz West. He will be reportedly buried where his mother has also been buried. Talking about his deteriorating health condition, Kazi shared that Mehmood had been ill for two months.
Shedding light on the same, Salam revealed that they had thought he might be suffering a minor problem. However, soon his weight started decreasing and his medical reports stated that there was a tumour in his intestine and cancer in his liver and lungs. He also developed jaundice, for which the doctors were treating him.
Over the past few days, actors Johny Lever, Jeetendra, Sachin Pilgaonkar and others were even spotted visiting the later actor after the news of his deteriorating health made the headlines. For those who don’t know, Sayyed started his career as a child artist and he was given the name Junior Mehmood by the late comedy icon Mehmood after they worked together in Suhagrat. The late actor has impressed the audience with his versatile performances for decades.
