This Is How Ranveer Singh's Father Reacted To His Condom Ad In 2014
Ranveer Singh has often attributed his exponential rise to stardom to his family, especially his father who has supported him in every phase of his life. But there was a time, rather a project, Ranveer's father Jagjit Singh Bhavnani did not quite approve of.

The said project is that of a condom advertisement, shot way back in 2014 when Ranveer's career was in its infancy and he was still to taste the success that he did later. Condom endorsements continue to be a tabboo for leading actors even today, and in 2014, the advertisement featuring Ranveer Singh did understandably raise many an eyebrow.  Also read: Ranveer Singh Trolled For His Recent Gender Fluid Look; Netizen Calls Him Sasti Copy Of Jared Leto

In an interview with Film Companion in 2014, Ranveer remembered his father asking him, "So I see all these actors do all these endorsements and it's good money. How come you're not doing any?"

Ranveer had then responded, "I'll do it when the time is right. I'll do it when there's something good enough for me to do."

Days later, he informed his father about the condom advertisement: "So, I'm gonna do my first endorsement."

His father had a not-so-pleasing reaction when he got to know it was a condom.

In the now viral video, Ranveer imitated his father's reaction, "Really? I hope you know what you're doing."

Ranveer had been the face of the condom brand for several years. According to a 2019 Forbes India report, the actor and the company "amicably” parted ways. Reports say that Ranveer's current married status might have been the reason for the termination of the contract.

Known for his quirky style and eccentricity, Ranveer Singh continues to break the mould of the archetypal Hindi movie hero, and endorse varied brands. On the work front, he has his kitty full of movies -- Cirkus, directed by Rohit Shetty, Karan Johar's multi-starrer period drama, Takht and Jayeshbhai Jordaar.

The Kapil Dev biopic '83, directed by Kabir Khan and starring Ranveer and Deepika Padukone, is ready for a release.
