The Lion King Box-Office Collection, Day 2: SRK-Aryan’s Dubbed Voices Get Great Response; Film Shows Massive Growth
On Friday, the most celebrated films of our childhood The Lion King hit the screens once again. We at SpotBoye.com had predicted the first day business of the Hindi version, which would be around 13-15cr and bingo the film earned exactly 13.17 cr on day 1. Now the movie has shown tremendous growth on its second day at the box-office, which clearly states that it still remains a favorite amongst the audience after so many years.

The film went on to collect Rs 19cr on day 2 by showing a 70% growth on Saturday as per BoxofficeIndia. That takes the total to 30 crore within 2 days of its release. Going by the current trend, we are expecting further growth on Sunday which might make the film, biggest opener on Monday. Throwing light on which circuit helped the film grow massively are Mumbai with 90% BO share, followed by Delhi/UP with 80%. Meanwhile, South circuit was also entertained with the movie making Mysore / Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in the following spot whereas Nizam / Andhra and Kerala circuit showed less earnings at the Box office.

Sunday's collection is expected to touch the 50 crore mark if this trend continues. The movie was rated 2 stars by SpotboyE.com Editor Vickey Lalwani as he wrote, “As the film rolls out, you feel for neither the cub Simba nor his Dad Mufasa, and not even against Scar (former heir to the throne) who plots the duo's downfall with hyenas. Even the way that Simba figures out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his, is depicted very weakly. Director saab Jon Favreau seems to have come to a belief that only technology can make a film. Absolute lack of emotions. But why? Reflective of today's times?”

What also worked like a magnet to increase the footfalls was Shah Rukh Khan and his son's association with the movie, while Khan dubbed for Mufasa, his son Aryan Khan lent his voice for Simba's character in this Hindi version.

Announcing the BO collection for Day 1 Trade analyst Taran Adarsh has tweeted, "#TheLionKing roars... Opens in double digits on Day 1... Trends better than #SpiderManFarFromHome [Day 1: ₹ 10.05 cr]... Biz will witness an upturn on Day 2 and 3, when kids and families throng cineplexes... Fri ₹ 11.06 cr. India biz. Gross BOC: ₹ 13.17 cr. All versions."
