Thappad: Taapsee Got SLAPPED 7 Times By Pavail Gulati; ‘He Advised Me To Slap Him So He Doesn’t Feel Awful’
The trailer of Taapsee Pannu starrer Thappad released recently and the viewers loved it. They were all praise for Taapsee’s impeccable performance and also for tackling a topic like domestic violence. The film centers on chauvinism and violence and how Amrita (Taapsee), refuses to stay with her husband (Pavail Gulati) and seeks for a divorce after he slaps her at a party. This slap scene, which was shown in the trailer, apparently took seven retakes and Pavail had to slap Taapsee as many number of times to get the scene right!

While talking to News18, Taapsee Pannu revealed that Pavail Gulati was so terrified that it took him 2 days just to mentally prepare himself to slap her. “I was being smacked all over multiple times to get the right shot. In the motion picture it’s just one, however, Pavail was apprehensive to the point that we finished the shot in 7 retakes. I think in my entire film, I had not given such a significant number of retakes.” She further added how they wanted this scene to be perfect and impactful. “Anubhav said that the slapping shot must be exact, so when the audience sees it on 60 mm, it should look impactful. However, Pavail was terrified to the point that it took him 2 days to set himself up intellectually to slap me,” she said.

Taapsee Pannu also added that Pavail Gulati was advising her to slap him so he doesn’t feel awful about slapping her. “I had to tell him that don’t think anything, simply give me a tight slap and finish it off,” she said. Thappad also stars Ratna Pathak Shah, Tanvi Azmi, Dia Mirza, Ram Kapoor and Kumud Mishra and is all set to release on February 28, 2020.
