Tarak Fatah Accuses Zaira Wasim Of Mocking Her Countrymen With Locust Tweet; Lady Hits Back, 'I Am Only Accountable To Allah, Not His Creation'
The Zaira Wasim controversy doesn’t seem to be dying anytime soon. It all happened after the former actress took to her Twitter and quoted a verse from the Quran over the ongoing locust attacks. This, however, didn’t go down very well with the netizens and they accused the Dangal fame of justifying locust attacks in India. Soon after the backlash, Zaira deleted her social media accounts; she, however, got back saying that it was a mere break. Now, a journalist and author, who goes by the name of Tarak Fatah, slammed Zaira for her controversial tweet.

He accused her by writing, “Indian Muslim actress @ZairaWasimmm mocks her own countrymen as being victims of Allah's wrath. This is how she explains locust swarms.” This, however, didn’t go down well with Zaira and she penned a really long note to justify her action. She said how she made this statement on behalf of God and that it wasn’t her own. The former actress further claimed that her tweet was blown out of proportion and people shared it as per their agenda. In the end, Zaira also corrected the author saying that she isn’t an actress anymore.

“My tweet was completely taken out of context and blown out of proportion and none of the opinions, whether good or bad, define the reality of my intentions, for that is between me and My Rabb, and something which I'm not even going to explain, for I'm only accountable to Allah and not His creation,” read an excerpt from her note.

She continued, “We must at least enhance our opinions with the better representations of it by those who were well equipped to complete our spectrum of opinion and not just with passive acceptance of other people's representations of the Quran, not even mine. The world is going through a tough time and a lot of hatred and bigotry already, the least we could do is not add more to it.”
