Tanushree Dutta Sexual Harassment Scandal: Shama Sikander Extends Support, Says, "I Feel So Sorry. It Happens With Girls And They Are Asked To Keep Their Mouth Shut”
A number of Bollywood celebrities have come out in support of Tanushree Dutta in her ongoing war with Nana Patekar. Now, TV actress Shama Sikander too has spoken in her favour. Read on to know what she says
Tanushree Dutta’s
allegations of sexual harassment against Nana Patekar is perhaps the only talk
of town the past few days. The actress has accused the senior actor of sexually
harassing her on the sets of 2008 film, Horn ‘Ok’ Pleassss. Post her revelation,
a number of Bollywood celebs such as Priyanka Chopra, Twinkle Khanna, Farhan
Akhtar, Swara Bhasker, Richa Chadha, Renuka Shahane, Sonam Kapoor, Parineeti
Chopra, Masaba Gupta and Kangana Ranaut among others have come out in her
support.
Now, TV actress
Shama Sikander too has extended support to the actress. In an exclusive chat
with SpotboyE.com, she said, "I feel sorry for whatever happened in her
life. Such traumas affect you from within
which can turn into depression. I have met her once and twice in my life. She
is a very sweet girl. I just hope and pray that she finds the courage to
fight".
Shama Sikander
She added,
"I wasn't available at the spot so can't say what exactly happened in that
moment, but I will definitely say that many such incidents happen with
actresses in this glamour world. Humaari industry mein hi kya, kya ladkiyon ke
saath ye sab humaare desh mein nahi hota? Duniya mein nahi hota? I mean it
happens all the time and every time they are asked to keep their mouth shut. In
fact, I would say ye auratein hi hain jinki wajah se auratein chup rehti hain.
The day women support each other, the scenario will change.”
We asked her if
she had encountered an unfortunate incident ever since she stepped into the
telly world, she told us, “I was always a strong woman. When I was new to this
industry, I didn’t know the dynamics of the place. At that time, it was easier
for people to rule me, but now, that’s not possible. I am very clear about what
I want and nobody can misuse me. I am strong enough to tackle unforeseen
situations.”
The actress
recalled an incident from years ago when she was eve-teased and how she dealt
with it. "When I was young, a certain guy would eve tease me. My father
would ask me to stay away from them and not get into altercations. But then,
one day, I got very angry and decided to teach him a lesson. So while
I was coming back from somewgere, I noticed wo mujhe ghoore jaa raha tha.
Uss din maine bhi use waise hi ghoor ke dekha. Maine usko 5 minutes tak khade
hokar ghoora aur uske baad uss ladke mein himmat hi nahi hui kuch aur karne ki
aur wo bhaag gaya wahan se. So I believe power is in your eyes. You have to
stand back and stare at your problems than running away from them.”
