Taapsee Pannu On Her Tiff With The Paparazzi; Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba Actress Says, ‘I'm A Public Figure, Not Public Property’
Taapsee Pannu opened up about the challenging aspect of being a celebrity and how the invasive nature of the paparazzi often leads to her getting trolled
Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu never shies away from calling out her anonymous trollers and the paparazzi during her interview. Having accused the paps of invading her personal space and deliberately pushing her buttons to get a negative reaction out of her, she has now yet again opened up about the invasive nature of the paparazzi which often leads to her getting trolled. Speaking about the same with the news agency ANI, she expressed that she has ‘unfortunately’ chosen a life where whether she does something or doesn’t, she will always be trolled.
Pannu added that her being trolled means that she is being ‘relevant’. She says, “People are spending time in negativity on you. I would be like, okay, I'm worth their time in some way.” the actress believes that despite the harsh words used by the trolls, they lack the power to destroy careers, like in the earlier days.
Shedding light on her interaction with the paparazzi, which often catches everyone’s attention, the 37-year-old actress, quoted by the Free Press Journal, said, “I have a very clear logic of the fact that I'm a public figure, not public property. There's a very, very big difference between the two. If you shout at me, I will not take it. If you jump on me and pounce on me and physically come too close to me, that's not acceptable.”
Taapsee goes on to talk about how negative moments and narratives reported by the media often create more buzz than positive interactions. She goes on to express hoe despite everything, her commitment to her work shines through in the support she receives from the critics, even if her films doesn’t achieve commercial success.
The Pink actress adds, “It's not like I know many of them personally for them to know the hard work I'm putting in. I guess my honesty towards my work speaks on camera. They probably felt ki isne koshish kari (that she tried hard). Ab puri picture ka zimma mere kandho pe nahi hota hai (The whole film is not on my shoulders). It's a team effort. Every film is a team effort. I tried to give my best. It didn't work for X, Y, Z, or whatever reasons. I shouldn't be held responsible for it. So they were kind enough to give me my due. And they've most of the time been kind to me.”
On the work front, Taapsee Pannu was last seen in Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba, co-starring Vikrant Massey, Jimmy Shergill, and Sunny Kaushal. The film, which was released on Netflix, is the second installment of her hit film, Haseen Dillruba.
