Taapsee Pannu Expresses Worry Over People Misusing #MeToo Movement, After Payal Ghosh Accuses Anurag Kashyap Of Sexual Harassment
Taapsee Pannu expresses her worry over people misusing #MeToo movement and thinks that its misuse will 'send women years back into being ignored and over run'. This tweet comes after she backed Anurag Kashyap post Payal Ghosh's #MeToo allegations
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap found himself in hot waters after actress Payal Ghosh came out in open and accused him of sexual misconduct. She recently penned a tweet accusing Anurag of forcing himself on Payal. She even urged Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to take action. Ghosh even mentioned that Anurag opened his zip and forced himself on her. However, after this #MeToo incident started making headlines, Taapsee Pannu who has worked with Kashyap in Manmarziyaan, supported him. Now, the actress worries about people misusing the #MeToo movement. She thinks that the misuse of this movement will 'send women years back into being ignored and over run.
Replying to a tweet about people misusing this movement just to tarnish someone’s image, Taapsee wrote, "+1 This power of calling out n being heard has come to us after years of struggle n suppression. But with great power comes greater responsibility. Misusing it, will send us years back into being ignored n over run." In another tweet, speaking up for the director, she wrote, "And he will make sure he becomes the wind beneath your wings," quoting a tweet which said that there is no safer place than an Anurag Kashyap team for a woman in the film industry. Similarly, Thappad director Anubhav Sinha also wrote a tweet regarding the misuse of #MeToo movement and Anurag Kashyap.
His tweet said, "It is the joint responsibility of women and men both to carefully protect the sanctity of #Metooindia It is a very very very important movement that should not be misused for any other reason but the dignity of women. @anuragkashyap72"

After Payal Ghosh's accusations, Taapsee shared a picture with Anurag, supposedly from the sets of Manmarziyaan while saying that he is the biggest feminist. She backed the picture as, "For you, my friend, are the biggest feminist I know. See you on the sets soon of yet another piece of art that shows how powerful and significant women are in the world you create :)"
