Actress Swara Bhaskar is known for her strong and brave attitude as she supports the causes she stands for. The actress is known for taking on her trollers in the most unique way possible. The actress recently tweeted and sought the help of Mumbai Police through social media, to report a troll who abused her on social media.

The Veere Di Wedding actress was receiving some brutal online trolling, and hence, she decided to take strict action this one. Swara drew immediate attention of the Mumbai Police to the online troll by the name of Deepak Tiwari. Tiwari has made abusive remarks on the actress by calling her a ‘call girl’ for supporting former JNU students Union President Kanhaiya Kumar. The Mumbai police swiftly reacted to the actress’ online and asked for her personal details. Furthermore, the Mumbai Police Commisioner’s office called the actress asking her for details and took action against the troll by filing an FIR and registering a case against the man under defamation and harassing her over a tweet.

The Mumbai Police's Response To The actresses' tweet

Swara Bhaskar told Spotboye.com, “Even though I’m now quite innured to a certain kind of online abuse.. sometimes tweets are just so abusive and vile and coming from a place of pure harassment and misogyny that it’s important to take action. I reported the tweet to Mumbai police twitter handle and they were almost immediate in their response. A staff of the Commissioner’s office called and guided me with procedures and was very helpful and supportive. I’m now in the process of filing an official written complaint with my local police station.”

In a report by TOI, Mumbai Police Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Singe said that the Versova Police Station have registered a case under The Indian Penal Code sections 500 (defamation), 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication) and under the Information Technology Act section 67 ( punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electric form). He also mentioned that the local police are taking help of the cyber police officials to track down the person who has posted the objectionable content against the actress.
