Sushant Singh Rajput’s Neighbour Sahil Shah Discharged In Drugs Case Related To Late Actor: Reports
Sahil Shah, the neighbour of the deceased actor Sushant Singh Rajput, has been released from custody in connection to the drug case that emerged following the actor's tragic demise in June 2021. Shah, who was arrested on January 27, 2022, six months after the actor's passing, faced allegations of supplying drugs to local drug dealers in the city.

Having surrendered when both the sessions court and the Bombay High Court denied him anticipatory bail, Sahil Shah faced legal scrutiny linked to two additional cases, one of which implicated actress Rhea Chakraborty, the late actor's girlfriend. Shah, arrested in connection to supplying ganja in a specific case, was part of an investigation launched by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on April 12, 2021. During a raid resulting in the arrest of Ganesh Shere and Siddharth Amin with 310gm ganja and Rs1.5 lakh cash, they implicated Shah as the primary supplier, marking his sole arrest thus far.

Just a week after Sahil Shah's arrest, the special court issued bail, expressing criticism of the agency's handling of the case. The bail order, dated February 3, 2022, highlighted the court's observation that the agency failed to provide details about the accused's background and neglected to present any relevant WhatsApp messages. The court disapproved of the agency's approach, emphasizing the absence of admissible evidence, apart from the statement provided by Shere.

In August 2023, Sahil Shah's attorney, Ayaz Khan, submitted a discharge plea. The court, granting the plea, reiterated that Shah had been implicated solely based on the statement of one co-accused. The court pointed out, "At the time of the applicant's arrest, no phone numbers were found in his possession. There is no documented evidence to suggest that, other than the co-accused's statement, there is any case against the applicant."
