In a significant development in the written petition filed by late Sushant Singh Rajput’s house help Dipesh Sawant alleging the NCB illegally detained him, according to a report in India Today, the agency has denied all accusations made by Sawant
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is investigating the drug angle following the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. As part of the drug probe, the NCB had arrested SSR’s house help Dipesh Sawant for procuring drugs for the late actor. Later, Dipesh filed a written petition before the Bombay High Court against the NCB, seeking Rs 10 Lakh in compensation, alleging that he was detained illegally in the drug case. Now, in a significant development in the petition filed by Dipesh Sawant against the NCB, the agency has reportedly denied all accusations made by Sawant.
According to a report in India Today, NCB zonal director, Sameer Wankhede, in a 34-page affidavit, said that a search of Dipesh Sawant’s residence was done, but there was no evidence that was found. He stated, “After the completion of the Punchnama, summons were served upon Sawant. The officers asked him to appear before the NCB on September 4. However, it was Sawant himself who stated that he wished to accompany the officers of NCB since it was night and he would find it difficult to trace out the NCB office.” Wankhede stated that Sawant accompanied NCB officials and everything happened in the presence of his family members, i.e his mother and brother.
The NCB zonal director further stated that Dipesh Sawant was feeling exhausted and told the officials he wanted to sleep. Later, the NCB officials asked him to come the next day, to which he agreed, but changed his mind later stating that he would not get any mode of transport at that time. Wankhede’s affidavit said, “He requested us to permit him to stay in the office of the NCB so that he can again continue with his statement in the morning. Accordingly, Sawant stayed overnight out of his own will and volition. NCB officials provided him breakfast and other facilities and he showed his willingness to continue with his further voluntary statement.”
Meanwhile, after the NCB denied allegations made by Sawant, the court said that the next hearing of the case will be on December 4. So far, the NCB has arrested, summoned and questioned many people including Bollywood celebrities during the drug probe.
