Sushant Singh Rajput Death: Mumbai Police Files An Affidavit In HC; SSR's Mental Health May Have Deteriorated After Sisters Gave Medicines
Mumbai Police has filed an affidavit in Bombay High Court seeking dismissal of the petition filed by Sushant Singh Rajput's sisters. The actor's sisters filed petition requesting quashing of the FIR filed by Rhea Chakraborty against them
In September, Rhea Chakraborty filed an FIR against Sushant Singh Rajput's sisters, Priyanka Singh and Meetu Singh, reportedly accusing them of forgery and cheating. In the FIR lodged, Rhea Chakraborty claimed that SSR's sisters forged and obtained prescription of mental illness medicines for the late actor. Later, the sisters filed a petition demanding that the FIR should be quashed. Now, in response to the petition filed by SSR's sisters, Mumbai Police has filed an affidavit in Bombay High Court.
As per a report in news agency PTI, in the affidavit, Mumbai Police has refused the allegations made by sisters that the force is trying to damage the reputation of the petitioners or any deceased person. It has also been stated that the Mumbai Police is not trying to influence or derail the probe being carried out by the CBI.
According to Live Law, an excerpt from the affidavit read, "FIR lodged at Mumbai seeks investigation into alleged offence of conspiracy, forgery, cheating and conspiracy by petitioners sisters of Sushant Singh Rajput, Dr Tarun Kumar and others for fabricating medical prescription to procure and administer controlled drugs/psychotropic substances to Sushant Singh Rajput without his actual examination. FIR also seeks investigations into the possibility of deterioration of his mental health and eventual suicide pursuant to the said conspiracy."
It further read, "This version of the informant disclosed cognisable offences warranting investigation and requiring no preliminary enquiry. Therefore, the Mumbai Police were duty-bound to register the FIR."
The affidavit also described that the case being investigated by CBI is the one filed by Sushant's father while the FIR lodged by Rhea is for forgery, cheating and criminal conspiracy.
