Sussanne Khan’s Sis Farah Khan Raises Question Over PM-CARES Fund: ‘Billions Of Indians Don’t Know How They’ll Pay For Livelihood’
With the Coronavirus outbreak and currently a nationwide lockdown in place, the economy has taken a hit, with several businesses on hold, many people’s jobs at stake, while a huge number of people have been rendered jobless. On March 28, the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund, also known as PM-CARES find was set up. Bollywood celebs such as Akshay Kumar, Kartik Aaryan, Sara Ali Khan among others donated a huge sum. Now, Sussanne Khan’s sister Farah Khan Ali questioned the Government for making no provisions for the needy amid lockdown, despite donations to PM-CARES fund.

The PM-CARES Fund was meant to strengthen India’s disaster management capacities and tackle situations such as the Coronavirus pandemic and other crises of similar magnitude, should they arise in the future. The fund received huge contributions not only from Bollywood celebrities, but also several institutions, public sector units such as the Railways, and so on. Speaking up about the lack of provisions despite donations to the PM-CARES fund, Farah Khan Ali tweeted, “Billions of Indians don’t know how they will pay for their livelihood and yet the Govt has made no provisions for its people inspite of donations to the PM Care fund.”

Many agreed with Farah Khan Ali, while a few replied that the Government is doing its best in the current situation. While one user wrote, “@PMOIndiamust come clear on the issue of #PMCaresFunds An audit of the fund wud be great The people of the country have a right to know what has happened to the money they so rightfully donated,” another user wrote, “Govt is doing its best to contain the situation and to provide best of the services. But everyone has to join in to get through this. So sitting at home and criticizing the govt is not right. Be at the forefront and then say anything.” Take a look:
