Surrogacy & Twins: Leave Karan Johar Alone, Akshay Kumar Was NOT Rude
When film journalism disturbs me, and here is a case in point. Not only Akshay's comment, every second journalist wants every celebrity's take on Karan Johar's kids!
Last night, I
came across a story on the Internet which said that Akshay Kumar is in no mood
to congratulate Karan Johar about becoming a father.
In fact, the
story began with the sentence: Seems like Akshay Kumar is in no mood to
congratulate Karan Johar.
The judgmental
writer then went on to say that Akshay was rude in handling the question at an
event! (See the video above)
Now if you too
feel that Akshay was impolite, let me tell you that we journalists must stop
asking this question to every celebrity we meet. Isn't that just what many of
us are doing ever since Saturday night when the news about Karan's twins- Roohi
& Yash- broke out?
The worst part
here is that a certain news on the Internet even had a picture of two infants
lying near each other. Height of stupidity! For Pete's sake, Roohi and Yash are
still not out of hospital because they were born premature and weigh just 1.5
kg. Wonder whether the writer in question even knows about this, or is he so
insensitive?

Coming to
Akshay's reaction, what's rude about saying that he will talk to Karan personally
about this? His manner of evading the question may have been slightly
different, but we need to understand that it's just that he quickly wanted to
get away from that question else you know how we journalists trap stars into
saying something or the other.
Asking every star
around us about Karan's kids is just silly. Certain topics are really personal
and sensitive, and I don't think anybody should talk about it except the person
himself, in this case Karan.

My problem with
this whole oh-so-predictable journalism is: Let's stop hounding celebrities in
the name of content on everything that happens in the world. Why corner
celebrities into talking on everything that happens around us?
India beat
Australia. Order in the newsroom: Celebrities
ke bytes lekar aao.
BJP confident
about winning the UP elections. Order in the newsroom: Celebrities ke bytes
lekar aao.
Holi aa rahi hai.
Order in the newsroom: Celebrities ke bytes lekar aao.
Hrithik and
Sussanne have parted ways. Order
in the newsroom: Celebrities ke bytes lekar aao.
Reporters are
rushed out to different locales and an amalgamation of those quotes is your
next story!
Now let me tell
you what a leading actress told me yesterday. She said: I have already spoken
to Karan and told him what I had to.
Does this ring a
bell in my fellow mates? All stars who wished to congratulate him have already
done it through a Phone Call/SMS/WhatsApp.
